The Power of Meditation

spirit goddess - healing meditationsMeditation is one of the most underutilized tools in modern history.  It has been around for many millenarian and used by people great and small to give them direction and purpose in life.  Wikipedia defines meditation as:

A holistic discipline during which time the practitioner trains his or her mind in order to realize some benefit.  It is generally a subjective, personal experience and most often done without any external involvement, except perhaps prayer beads to count prayers. Meditation often involves invoking and cultivating a feeling or internal state, such as compassion, or focusing upon a focal point.  The term can refer to the process of reaching this state, as well as to the state itself.

It is basically getting your conscious mind quiet so you can hear the divine within and get the inspiration and creativity to move away from what you don’t want at any one time, to that which you truly desire.

The following is a guided meditation that will get you used to the changes you will feel in your body as you go through the meditative process.  You can do it with your eyes open or closed and be seated, lying down, standing against a wall, just don’t do it while driving because you conscious mind steps aside and can allow deep beneficial changes to take place in your body.  You may experience an altered state of consciousness, and therefore not be fully awake and alert. You will be in your most natural state instead. Eckhart Tolle is a master teacher of meditation and bestselling author of the “Power of Now” and “A New Earth.” Listen to this simple meditation and you’ll begin to see some of the power of now and of meditation:


 

 

You can meditate with your eyes open or closed, and if you are just starting it is usually best to begin with your eyes softly closed so you are not distracted by visual stimulus. Loosen any tight clothing and take your shoes off if you can.  Also, when you are just beginning you may find it easiest to focus on the object of your meditation by using silence or voice free music in the background.  A candle (I recommend a 100% Beeswax candle because of the natural high vibration it emits) or form of aromatherapy oils (with a diffuser or electronic nebulizer) are all highly recommended, especially for beginners needing to get in the right mood and frame of mind to meditate successfully.

 

Using a Guided Meditation

This meditation is titled “I Love Myself” and it was written by Bee (Gloria Magdalena Almanza) an experienced mediator and positive change facilitator. This meditation was chosen because to love anyone else you must first love yourself.  It all starts with you!

Allow your body to get into a comfortable position.

As you sit, allow your arms to be open, palms  facing up and open in receiving mode.

Close your eyes.

Place your tongue on the roof of your mouth

Breathe in through your nose

Hold your breath for a second and then through your nose slowly release it

Repeat this consciously. As you breathe in, feel the new air cleansing your body and as you breathe out, feel the old air leaving your body. Allow your breath to heal you, and heal all the pain and wounds in your physical, mental and spiritual body.  Breathe.

As you breathe in tighten the muscles in your feet and as you breathe out release…… calves…… thighs, stomach & lower back, chest, neck, face, forehead.

Clear your mind.

See yourself seated in a comfortable chair.

In front over you there is a beautiful mirror. What does the mirror look like?

Look into the mirror, look at yourself.

Look into your eyes. Tell yourself


I love myself
I love my life
I love my body
My body is self healing
My body is in perfect balance
I love my work
I love those who are close to me
I love my home
I am grateful for all that I have
I love and forgive those who hurt me
I love and forgive myself

Look into your eyes as you say this to yourself.
Feel the gratitude within your heart
Feel your self confidence and deep self love
Feel the passion in your heart as you say this.

Visualize the mirror again in front of you. See yourself radiating in love. Kiss yourself goodbye.

See yourself slowly get up from your visual chair. Feel yourself get ready to come back into your body. As you come back into your physical space, Feel your toes and wiggle them.
Wiggle your fingers. Feel yourself coming back into your body.

Breathe.

When you are ready, slowly open your eyes.
